Illinois In March 2022, there was a unanimous vote at the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association Educational and Research Foundation (IFCAERF) Board Meeting in favor of creating a committee and adopting by-laws for a new Illinois Pipeline Emergency Response Committee. At upcoming IPERI Steering Committee meetings, the group plans to discuss transitioning from a Steering Committee to the new IPERI Committee operating under the IFCAERF.

Iowa
Iowa Pipeline Emergency Response Initiative
IAPERI has been meeting regularly since August 2017. The steering committee has drafted governance documents and is working on developing a training curriculum.

Wisconsin
Wisconsin Pipeline Emergency Response Initiative
A WIPERI steering committee began meeting in summer of 2018. The group is reviewing to identify gaps and opportunities related to pipeline emergency training in the state.

Minnesota Minnesota Pipeline Community Awareness Emergency Response, or "MNCAER," is a PERI-like entity that meets regularly to collectively provide pipeline safety information to Minnesota emergency officials, including local fire, law enforcement and others through the enhanced awareness of pipeline emergencies, availability of member resources and emergency response capabilities.

South Dakota In July 2019, PHMSA began discussions to initiate the South Dakota PERI (SDPERI). An information meeting was held on August 28, 2019. A first steering committee meeting was held October 9, 2019, followed by a second in December 2019. In January 2021, the SDPERI decided to discontinue meeting on its own and will instead convene as a subgroup to the South Dakota Pipeline Association.
