PHMSA offers comprehensive funding opportunities focused on hazardous materials and pipeline safety. PHMSA funding opportunities are designed to:
- Foster partnerships with states, local communities, universities, and nonprofits
- Provide resources for emergency preparedness
- Promote pipeline awareness campaigns
- Develop pipeline resources
- Implement best practices for pipeline and hazmat safety, nationwide
- Encourage the development of new technologies
- Help municipality and community-owned utilities improve and maintain safe pipeline infrastructure.

Grantee Adherence to Federal Statutes and Regulations
PHMSA reminds all grant recipients of their obligation to comply with Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards. See PHMSA's letter to grantees following its compliance review of certain Federal financial assistance programs which shares lessons learned to assist grantees in their efforts to comply with these requirements.
