Updated July 2024! For safety reasons, lithium batteries must be subjected to a series of design tests per sub-section 38.3 of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria. This updated publication assists manufacturers and distributors with understanding and implementing the lithium battery test summary requirement effective January 1, 2022 and subsequently revised effective May 10, 2024.
