Dear Mr. Valdez:

This is in response to your request dated February 19, 1999, regarding quantity limitations for highway shipments of nonbulk packagings under the Hazardous Materials Regulations HMR; 49 CFR Parts 171-180).

There are no restrictions on the amount of non-bulk packagings a highway shipment may contain under the HMR.  Quantity limitations for air and passenger rail shipments are shown in column 9 of the Hazardous Materials Table (§ 172.101), but there are no equivalent restrictions for highway shipments of hazardous materials.

I hope this satisfies your request.

Sincerely,

John A. Gale
