NOW AVAILABLE: Updated Pipeline Operator Qualification Frequently Asked Questions

Friday, January 28, 2022

PHMSA updated its Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for pipeline operator qualification (OQ) requirements to clarify the Federal pipeline safety regulations for OQ located in 49 CFR part 192, subpart N, and 49 CFR part 195, subpart G.  The updated OQ FAQs removes or replaces outdated or irrelevant FAQs, and tie each FAQ to a regulatory requirement.

The FAQs help pipeline operators and the public to better understand the application of Federal pipeline safety regulations for OQ.  Like all PHMSA guidance, FAQs are not rules, nor do they create legally enforceable rights, assign duties, or impose new obligations that are not contained in the existing regulations and standards.  Pipeline operators must comply with the underlying safety standards referred to in the FAQs.

See PHMSA's updated OQ FAQs for more details.
