This amendment establishes tests for qualifying procedures and personnel to make all types of joints In plastic pipelines used in the transportation of natural and other gas, including heat fusion, solvent cement, adhesive, and mechanical joints. These new requirements are intended to minimize the possibility of joints coming apart and causing gas pipeline failures.
