Dear Mr. Porter
Your letter of September 11, 1970, to Mr. Caldwell has been referred to me for reply. You have correctly interpreted the regulations, Part 195, 49 CFR does not apply to gas pipelines. The only Section that applies to the marking gas pipelines is 192.707.
Revisions of the gas pipeline requirements for marking of lines is under active consideration for future by the Department of Transportation.
