Dear Mr. Fatteh:

This is in response to your November 11, 2003, letter regarding the training requirements specified under the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR; 49 CFR Parts 171-180).  Specifically, you ask if training can be given in a language other than English such as Spanish.

The answer is yes.  The HMR do not forbid training under Part 172, Subpart H from being given in a language other than English.

I hope this satisfies your request.

Sincerely,

John A. Gale
