Respondent was assessed a civil penalty of $9,360 for three violations of the HMR when it offered for transportation in commerce UN1760, Corrosive liquids, n.o.s. (Phosphoric/Muriatic Acid), 8, PGIII in a non-bulk package that exceeded the maximum gross mass marked on the package; offered for transportation in commerce UN1824, Sodium hydroxide solution, 8, PGII and UN1760, Corrosive liquids, n.o.s. (Sodium hydroxide), 8, PGII in UN certified packages when the packages had not been closed in accordance with the manufacturer's closure notification; and allowed employees to perform a function subject to the requirements of the HMR when the employees had not received initial or recurrent hazardous materials general awareness, function-specific, safety, or security awareness training.
