Evaluation of Acoustic Emission and Thermography Examinations (AE/TE) in Accessing Impact Damage of Fully Wrapped Carbon-Fiber Reinforced Aluminum Lined Cylinders (DOT-CFFC)
Aug 22, 2008
The objective of this research and development (R&D) project is to develop a nondestructive examination (NDE) that will be used to determine the quantitative capability of two pre-selected NDE techniques [acoustic emission and thermography examinations (AE/TE)], by assessing operational impact damage in DOT-CFFC. The selected NDE will be recommended for requalification of DOT-CFFC. This R&D project has been initiated and managed by DOT/Hazardous Materials Technology.
