ICAO Energy Storage Devices Working Group
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Dangerous Goods Panel (DGP) created the Energy Storage Devices Working Group to ensure provisions related to the transport of lithium batteries or other energy storage devices and supporting guidance material enable an acceptable level of safety. The DGP assigned the working group a task to complete a safety risk assessment on lithium batteries packed with or contained in equipment. This analysis would identify hazards and existing mitigating measures.
