MEMORANDUM TO FILE
SUBJECT: Interpretation - §195.248 and §195.210
§195.248 Cover over buried pipeline.
Mr. Taylor spoke with Frank Fulton in regard to intent of section (b) which allows less cover if additional protection is provided that is equivalent.
Mr. Fulton was of the opinion (1) that using a heavier wall pipe than required would have to be taken into consideration, (2) that a concrete slab poured a short distance above the pipe and below ground level would meet the requirement.
§195.210 Pipeline location.
Mr. Fulton indicated that the additional 12-inches of cover required when a pipeline is constructed less than 50 feet from a residence, etc., is not required because of blowout
considerations, but because of the increased possibility of activity in the vicinity of the pipeline.
