Vasiliki Tsaganos
Vasiliki Tsaganos is the Deputy Chief Counsel of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and a member of the Executive Team of PHMSA. Ms. Tsaganos is PHMSA’s senior career legal official providing counsel to PHMSA’s Executive Team on a variety of complex legal and policy matters. Along with the Chief Counsel, she has executive management oversight for the strategy and operations of the Office of Chief Counsel. With a staff of approximately 40 persons, the Office of Chief Counsel supports PHMSA’s two major safety programs, as well as the entire agency’s operations. Ms. Tsaganos leads the four legal divisions, comprised of the General Law Division, the Regulatory Affairs Division, the Hazardous Materials Safety Law Division, and the Pipeline Safety Law Division. Ms. Tsaganos is also the Designated Ethics Official for PHMSA.
Ms. Tsaganos joined DOT in the spring of 2013, after twenty-three years in private practice. Prior to joining PHMSA, Ms. Tsaganos was a Partner in the Corporate Department of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, a major international law firm, specializing in corporate transactions and corporate governance.
Ms. Tsaganos has a B.A from The American University and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
