Associate Administrator for Pipeline Safety

Thomas Correll

Thomas Correll (Tom) is a seasoned energy and infrastructure executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience in pipeline safety, environmental compliance, risk management, engineering support, and operational oversight. In his previous role, he served as Vice President of Pipeline Safety and Risk at Northern Natural Gas, a Berkshire Hathaway Energy company, where he led enterprise-wide compliance and integrity management programs for a major interstate natural gas pipeline system. Recognized for regulatory excellence, advancing safety-by-design principles, and managing complex capital expansion and risk mitigation initiatives in highly regulated environments.

Tom has extensive expertise in PHMSA compliance, pipeline integrity management, environmental permitting, hazardous materials management, and large-scale engineering and construction oversight. His earlier leadership roles included directing multi-state environmental permitting programs, securing FERC approvals, and coordinating with federal and state regulatory agencies, including USACE and USFWS.  His prior experience also includes operational and financial leadership in environmental remediation and construction services, as well as hazardous waste investigations and groundwater treatment projects.

Tom is a collaborative and strategic leader, known for building high-performing teams, strengthening organizational accountability, and fostering strong relationships with regulators, stakeholders, and industry partners.  He holds an MBA with an emphasis in economics from the University of Nebraska Omaha and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Iowa State University.  His additional professional credentials include Professional Geologist (PG), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), and Certified Groundwater Professional.  He is also active in civic and professional leadership, including service as Past President and Board Member of Omaha Rotary.
