PSIA 2002
Congress weighed in on public awareness in Section 5 of the PSIA 2002. Many of the requirements listed by Congress were already included in pipeline safety regulations. For example, the regulations required a public education program for recognizing and reporting a pipeline emergency. This requirement was expanded by the PSIA 2002 to the three Rs – Recognize, Respond to, and Report. Other public awareness requirements of the PSIA 2002 are included in the next 2 topics.
