2. The Beginning
To help understand the use of pipeline systems, we are going to start at the beginning where hydrocarbons are recovered and then prepared for use at their final destination, typically a home or gas station. The methods to ready hydrocarbons for transport include the exploration (finding), production (getting out of the ground) and the processing (cleaning up for use).
