Natural gas is a mixture of hydrocarbons and other components in a gaseous state, but is comprised mostly of
methane
gas.
It has the following properties:
Lighter than air (will rise to the ceiling in a confined space)
Invisible (cannot be seen)
Non-poisonous (breathing small quantities is not harmful)
Odorless (has no smell)
Flammable (ignites and burns readily)
