  1. Are domestic UN pressure receptacle cylinder manufacturing facilities required to have on-site inspections prior to building UN pressure receptacles?

    A. Yes. Each manufacturer of a UN pressure receptacle is subject to an on-site production assessment as specified in § 178.70(f)(1). This assessment is required of both foreign and domestic manufacturers of UN pressure receptacles.

  2. Who is authorized to conduct cylinder requalification on DOT specification and special permit cylinders?

    A. No person may represent that a repair or requalification of a cylinder has been performed in accordance with the requirements unless that person has been issued a requalifier identification number (RIN) under the procedural requirements prescribed in § 107.805. Lists of current persons authorized to requalify cylinders, by RIN and state.
